Connecting with Influence.

March 6, 2013 § 12 Comments

SO I think I’ve told you guys about The Influence Network before.
[In fact, yes I did, and you can check it out here.]

A pretty great group of ladies, I’ve found out, are putting amazing voices and content into the cyber world and building community.  So today, as a part of that, we’re having a giant linkup party and sharing a bit about ourselves for all to read. It’s like a Super Online Cocktail Party (that you can read more about over at The Influence Blog and be directed toward more of these special ladies), but you can come to this one in yoga pants.

Let’s do this.

Getting to Know This Girl:blog1

•Milk is pretty much my favorite thing. Besides the Lord. And my husband. Without it, the world around me loses its color, its meaning. It’s also the first thing my husband and I bonded over the day we met (Smith Bros. milk delivery 4EVA) and we can go through at least three gallons per week.  Seriously. Obviously, it’s a big part of my life and therefore something you should know about me.

•I am currently seven months pregnant with our first child.  And it’s a boy.
Or a girl.
One of the two.
But no matter what, it’s already a huge blessing gifting me in lessons on insecurity, grace, and what I’m capable of.  I have never been so in awe of God and life, of creation and miracles. And I know this is just the beginning.  New motherhood is going to blow. my. mind.

•I am a writer. It’s what I do. It’s what I’m trying to do. And no matter how hard I attempt to delve into my creative, fiction background, I end up writing non-fiction about life.  Sex, marriage, divorce. Faith. You know, easy stuff. But it seems to be the direction the Lord wants me to take since I can’t seem to shake it and therefore, I do. Who can argue with the Almighty, right?

Okay. That sums me up in three bullet points. And as much as I struggle with “who are you?” summaries, I’m excited to be a part of The Influence Network linkup today and the community in general. So far, they have discussed great topics in their forums and provided awesome classes and resources that I’ve already begun to employ. Having a space to meet others striving toward the same thing–an online voice rooted in Christ– is exciting and encouraging.

If you’re new here, welcome. So nice to meet you. I hope we can be friends.
If you’re not new here, I like you. You know this. Thanks for being here.

Happy Wednesday!

I had the same fight with fiction and nonfiction for a while! I’ve learned it’s just not my season for fiction and I’m okay with that. Maybe someday we’ll both get to write our fiction masterpieces!

    • Ah, yes Annie! It’s always comforting to know someone’s in the same boat. I think it helps to remind myself that whatever project I’m focusing on is not the only project I’ll ever focus on. 🙂 Fiction may have its season. Until then, yay for writing! Thanks for sharing.

I love that the baby gender is a surprise! I wish everybody did that!

    • We’re loving it, Nadine. But I won’t lie- there was ONE week where I thought I would give in (we have it written on a card just in case we changed our minds) but the Lord gave me a peace about it and it’s just been a thrill ever since. Can’t wait for that husband of mine to announce boy or girl! Thanks for being here. 🙂

    Congrats on your pregnancy!!

  • You are gorgeous! And I can tell it’s not just an outward thing. Excited to get to know you better! And now I’m off to drink a big tall glass of chocolate milk in your honor (thanks for the craving!)

    • I’m honored you were here, Lindsay, AND that I could inspire a milk craving! You encouraged ME in my water drinking! Thanks for your kind words and I’m thrilled to have met you. 🙂

  • It is so great to meet you, plus I love the way you write. It has so much soul and character in it. I need to drink more milk…haha.

    • Thanks, Ashley! That means a lot. I’m so glad you came by and if I can encourage anyone to drink more milk, then my goal is complete. 🙂 How people get by without it, I’ll never know. Great to hear from you!

Hey lady! I’m Traci and I love your writing style- sassy and fun! You speak my language! 🙂 I am loving your blog so far and plan to read it some more!! I hope to connect with you in the coming days. I am new to this network but have met some pretty cool ladies thus far. So it was nice to meet you and look forward to read more about the “easy stuff”!! 🙂

    Have a lovely day!

    • Thanks for coming and commenting, Traci! It’s been a great day, getting to “meet” others from the network and see what they’re up to. Hopefully we can get to know one another better in the future! 🙂
